What Is Discipleship?
Disciples
are people who are committed followers of Jesus, living by
His power and His will in their lives. In other words they
are members of the body of Christ, the Church, and do the
work of God in the world.
Discipleship Opportunities
Children Youth and Family Discipling Ministry
We guide the Christian nurturing of children from preschool through tenth grade. Through Sunday education classes, special events at various times of the year and parent directed teachings; we help the family unit work together to discover the wonder of Jesus.
Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO)
Our youth are active in a number of ways through the LYO. We have monthly events including events including Ga-Ga ball, The Harvest Bash, Lasertron, The Vollyball Marathon and many more. All of our events are built around three key elements, devotion to God, service to the world and friendship with one another. We hope each event is an opprotunity for our youth to see the many ways which God is at work in their world. Find us on Facebook!
Adult Discipling Ministry
We never outgrow the need to learn more, especially in
our faith life. This ministry team plans and
offers programs and events to foster the
continued spiritual development of adult members and
friends of Lord of Life. Through weekly discussions
after worship, bible study groups and special exploration
events and programs throughout the year, we can grow in
our relationships with each other and with God.
Faith Alive
Is a six week experience helping people to explore how
God is at work in their lives, who God is and how God
gives us life in all its abundance. It is designed not
only for people new to Lord of Life and the Church in
general but also for those exploring their spirituality.
It is a profound and life
changing
experience.
Global Outreach
We recognize that the Church is called to look outward,
to the rest of the world, and serve God’s people in all
places. Lord of Life has sent teams to New Orleans
to work with the people and places devastated by Hurricane
Katrina. We have also been working with Resurrection
Lutheran Church on Buffalo’s impoverished east side to
serve the people in that community. We are
continually seeking new opportunities to serve God’s
people.
Pastoral Care Inreach
Sometimes we could all use a little extra help. We are here to support each other in times of need. Members of our community have been blessed with the gift of mercy, a gift they can share with you. Their ministries include transportation, visitation, grief support and communion distribution. The team will also assist, on a short term basis, with elder care, meals, chores and pet care.
