Nursing
A Nurse is on duty during all weekday hours of operation. On Saturday, a nurse is on duty or on call for emergencies. Our nursing staff oversees the general care and welfare of our participants. When changes in needs, behaviors or other related matters are observed, the families of participants are contacted for consultation. When changes in needs, interests, medications, etc. are noted by a participant's family, our nurse should be informed.
Attendance
All participants are expected to attend on their scheduled days. We require a minimum attendance of two days per week. Participants are granted "Grace Day Absences" per month. There is no charge for these absences, but a "half-day" fee is charged for absences after the grace days are used. This policy allows for doctor appointments, illness and other circumstances. Caregivers are encouraged to arrange for alternate days of attendance when the participant's normal schedule is interrupted

We are very flexible in meeting the attendance needs of our participants and their caregivers. Special arrangements for changes in the attendance schedule can be made by calling the Center.
Please notify the office in advance of all absences. In the case of vacations, we would appreciate notification at least one week in advance.
Emergency Closings
Severe weather and other unpredictable emergencies may require us to close our Center. The official closing information is broadcast on WBEN radio (930 on your am dial); along with TV Channels 2, 4 and 7.
If the Center closes early, our staff will notify caregivers of the details and make arrangements for the participant's safe return home.
Payment for Services
Invoices are mailed out the first week of each month. Fees should be paid upon receipt of statement. Payments may be given to our receptionist or mailed. Receipts will be issued upon request. There is a $15.00 charge for returned checks.
Illness
A participant should not attend Lord of Life when ill. This would endanger other participants and jeopardize the services they receive. Examples include flu symptoms, diarrhea, nausea, coughing, sneezing or fever.
If participants arrive ill or develop symptoms while at the Center, families will be called to arrange transport home or treatment.
Personal Clothing
All clothing should be labeled (hats, coats, gloves, boots, canes and other assistive devices, glasses, etc.) . We may request a change of clothing to be left at our Center, if a participant has special needs. We do not assume responsibility for articles not labeled.
Buttons and zippers may be difficult for participants to manage, therefore, clothing that will not cause stress is recommended. Good choices are jogging pants, sweatshirts, and light sweaters (cardigans).
Although the temperature and climate at our Center is excellent, the participant needs to dress for the season and the weather forecast.
Showers and Personal Care
Showers are available upon request and are normally scheduled once a week. We provide towels and washcloths, however, personal supplies are not provided. Shampoo, soap, deodorant, brush, comb, disposable razors, personal pads, Depends™, powder and lotions are the responsibility of individual participants. Brushes, combs and personal items must be labeled with the participant's name.
